Visitor visa is used by travelers to enter the United States temporarily for business, pleasure or medical treatment.

BUSINESS VISITOR VISAS (B-1)

Purpose – this visa lets you to visit the United States for business reasons.

Eligibility – participation in a conference, trade fair or seminar in the United States, to consult with business associates, negotiate a contract or settle an estate.

Important – you are not allowed to take employment neither to work as a foreign press, in radio, film, print journalism or other information media.

Length of stay – The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials have authority at the port of your entry (generally an airport or land border) to determine how long you may stay in the United States. A visa does not guarantee entry into the United States, but allows you coming from abroad, to travel to the United States port-of entry and request permission to enter the United States.

Visa processing fee – USD $160. This is the fee which is payable to the Immigration of United States to process your application.

Processing time – there is no standard visa processing time. The estimated wait time for a visa interview can take couple of days. After the interview the embassy official may determine if your application requires further administrative processing.

VISITOR VISAS (B-2)

Purpose – this visa lets you to visit United States as a tourist for sightseeing – to have holiday, to visit friends and family, or related to medical treatment, activities social or service nature, or to participate in musical, sports or similar events as an amateur who will receive no remuneration.

Eligibility – to be a genuine visitor (which means that you plan to remain in United States for a specific period and leave the country), you have enough funds for your travel and stay in the United States and your residence is outside of the United States (you have binding ties with your country of residence that will ensure your departure from the United States at the end of your visit).

Important – holders of a visitor visa can enroll in a short recreational course of study which is not credited toward degree, but they are not allowed to take employment.

VISA WAIVER PROGRAM - ELECTRONIC SYSTEM FOR TRAVEL AUTHORITZATION (ESTA)

ESTA is an electronic system for the passengers’ screening under the Visa Waiver Program. Eligible citizens or nationals from all Visa Waiver Program must apply for ESTA at least 72 hours prior to travel.

Purpose – this visa lets you to visit the United States for business or pleasure.

Eligibility – you are a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program country and have enough funds for your travel and stay in the United States.

Important – ESTA is restricted to travelers possessing passports with specified security features (an electronic passport with a digital chip containing biometric information about the passport owner and the passport must have a machine-readable zone on the biographic page).

Length of stay – up to 90 days stay each time you enter the United States. Travel authorizations are valid for 2 years from the dare of authorization, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

Visa processing fee – There is an online application service charge of USD $14. This is the fee which is payable to the United States Immigration to process your application.

STUDENT VISA

If your intention is to study in the United States, you must obtain a student visa. The course of your study and type of the school you intend to attend will determine your visa class (F or M).

F student visa is for studying at the university or college, high school, private elementary school, seminary, conservatory or another academic institution including the English language program.

M student visa is for studying at vocational or other recognized nonacademic institution, other than a language training program

STUDENT VISA F-1 OR M-1

Purpose – this visa lets you to study in the United States.

Eligibility – you must have enough funds for your entire study and stay in the United States, to be enrolled as a full-time student in course of study and to provide evidence, your school must be approved by the Student and Exchange Visitors Program, Immigration & Customs Enforcement, to meet the English language requirements, have adequate health insurance and that you have genuine intention to study.

Important – F-1 students may not work off-campus in the first academic year but may accept on-campus employment under certain conditions and restrictions. After the completion of the first academic year F-1 students may work off-campus in three designed programs such as: Curricular Practical training (CPT); Optional Practical Training (OPT) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Optional Practical Training.

M-1 students may take part in practical training only after the completion of their studies.

Length of stay – as long as you are enrolled in the school to complete your academic program. After the program ends you will have 60 days to depart the United States.
